Almost Fall Break

School is up and running... and VERY busy. The kids are all doing well and liking it so far. Jason is in 4th grade this year and has the first male teacher ever. None of my kids have ever had one in Elementary School before. He is a great teacher and is on the ball. Guess where he went to college... that's right... UVU, just like ME. Rylie is in 8th grade and is doing really well. She has A's and B's thus far but is striving to get them all to A's before the end of the term. Steven is in 9th grade and is also doing really well... with A's and B's. He loves seminary and is already almost done with reading the Doctrine and Covenants. Alyssa is doing pretty good in her Sophmore year at UVU. We were very excited to see that she is tutoring students from her math class, in most cases, they are older than her. Pretty cool that a 17 year old is helping 21+ year olds understand math. She got a 104% on her 2nd math test...got the bonus questions right too. I am getting closer to my student teaching experience every week. I go into the field for the month of November. I will be teaching a 4th grade class and will actually be working with a male teacher. He is amazing! I have only been able to chat with him for a little bit this past Friday, but I was able to stay for a couple of hours to watch him with his class. I am very excited to get to work with him in November and again from January thru March. I can see that I will be learning a lot on new things from him. I also believer that I will be able to expand my horizons from what he can teach me. Scott is been busy at work and doing a wonderful job. I love that he loves his work. I love the time that we all get to spend together as a family. We have been blessed to have cooler weather here lately, and are grateful for it. Our family really loves the cooler weather. We are just about ready for that WHITE STUFF to start falling and sticking to the ground. Well, I better get moving... It's almost time to get the kiddos to bed.

Today is the SUPER BOWL... go AZ Cardinals!!!! We are having a party even as I type. Lots of yummy foods and snacks. I can't believe that January is already gone and we are now into February. Time is movings SO fast I don't know where to go or what to do next. Kids are moving right along in school.

But, I guess this blog is about my school too. I'm just about finished creating my google webpage for my computer tech class.... hopefully it all works out to be what 'Doc' Waters wants us to do. I have just finished putting together our groups Welcome to School Letter. And now, awaiting the NEXT project. I need to start my student teaching this next week so that I don't get behind. I have to do 20 hours... I have been assigned 10 for 1st grade and 10 for 5th grade.

I had my Mathematics for Elementary Teachers, we had our 1st test last week. I was relieved when I finally got it back and it was an 89%. My teacher made a comment to me...."you of all people are understanding this".... she said that to me when I went to see her to get help on a problem I didn't understand. Next test is this coming Friday. I'll let you know how it turns out.... hopefully next Sunday.

Well, I better get back to the PARTY.... before all the good stuff is gone. Talk to all-ya-all later.

P.S. Our little Miss Rylie Ann.... she had a class spelling bee this past Wednesday and made the top 2 girls.... they also had 2 boys from each class. Then this past Friday was the school spelling bee for all those class winners from 3rd thru 6th grades. Rylie tied for 2nd place. The really good thing is that she can't remember what word she missed that knocked her out. I guess she wasn't meant to have that work hang over her head for the rest of her life.

So school is well on the way. Busy as a beaver I am. The kids are doing well and still enjoying school. Me on the other hand.... well, its definately different. I am taking only 3 classes this semester. Math of Elementary Education Teachers.... doing ok so far I think. I'll have to let you know when I get my first test back... just took it on Friday. I am taking Computer Technology for Teachers... wow is that a busy class. We have only met twice (its a once a week class for 2 hours) and we have already had to sign up for a blog, gmail, a google site, and facebook. Luckily I already had all but the google site. But, then I had to add an additional blog to mine... just so that my teacher can keep up on my homework assignments. Each week we have to post a reflections blog and a video blog.... like I said BUSY. The last class is Intro to Education. I like this class so far... We do a lot of small group work... My teacher is Hilarious. One plus... The only class that has actual tests is my Math class... what a nice change.

Well, we have had a bit of a break from the cold weather and snow this past week. But, just as soon as it came... it left. We woke up to about 2 inches on the ground and it hasn't stopped snowing.

We are getting ready to go back to school this coming week. The kids go back on Monday and I go on Wednesday. I am looking forward to starting a new semester and hope to enjoy new classes.

This past weekend we had a baptism.... Yep that's right. You know I'm getting old when we baptize the youngest child. All went well with it and I was grateful for the huge turnout. I will get pictures out on when I get a minute to do so.

Time for school to start. Alyssa and Steven start back to school tomorrow. They are excited for it. The other 2, Rylie and Jason, start back on Monday. I can't believe that the summer is over. WOW!! That went pretty quick over all.

Alyssa will be in 10th grade and taking a few college courses. One at the High School and one on UVU campus with me. She is ready and willing to try to get some college credits under her belt before she graduates from HS. She is enrolled in Algebra 2, Honors English, Chemistry and Ballroom.... just to list a few.

Steven is in 7th grade and ready for his new school. He also will be taking some harder classes. He made it into the GT, gifted and talented, program for English and History for this year and next year. He is very excited for those classes. He also will be in Pre-Algebra this year.... to name a few for him.

Rylie, is starting 6th grade. She went and met her teacher tonight. Her teacher is Miss Harrington. This is her 1st year teaching at Hillcrest and she seems really nice.

Jason will be starting 2nd grade and he isn't quite sure what to think about it. He is excited and also nervous about having a new teacher and hoping that she likes him. He will do just fine I believe after he sees how she runs things.

I will be back taking Trig and Astronomy with Alyssa. I look forward to going back to school. I get the best birthday gift ever this year... it starts on my birthday...

Well, it's time to get the kids ready for bed... it's just after 9pm.... and now it's officially a school night.

Summer's Half Done....

I can't believe we are already through half of the summer.... It's only 5 weeks until the kids go back to school.... and 6 weeks and 2 days for me.... YES, we as a family, have started the count down! 35 days for the kids... and 44 days for me... I get a wonderful present for my birthday this year... It'll be my first day of school!! Yeah. We have been able to go to the pool at the Rec Center about every other week. The kids wish they could go every day!! The heat this summer hasn't been TOO bad... but, todays heat is to much for me. It started off cloudy and cool... not so much anymore. Alyssa, has been keeping busy working a few days a week at the shop with her dad. She gets to help keep things cleaned up and earn a little money doing so. Steven, is actually at his first Scout camp today until Friday night. He was excited to be going and was picked to be the junior scout leader. It is just the deacons at this campout. Rylie, is busy dancing the summer away in her dance camp. She is preparing for the Pioneer Legacy Theatre performance next weekend and has dance every morning for 3 hours... 4 days a week for 3 weeks. She is hoping to be in Pre-Pointe Ballet classes in the fall or by January 2009. Jason, is just Jason. He is liking the swimming thing... when Mom goes with the kids. He has been keeping busy with the PS2 and the Magnetix we have. He loves building star ships with them. Me, I've just been working and wishing I could do more with the kids. Also, wishing school was in. We, me included, have just been more bored this summer than normal. Hope all of you are doing well.

We are now into the summer by almost a week...officially any ways. The kids are getting bored with not much to do. They like to play on the PS2 and computer every day. I've never seen Jason so willing to get his job done first thing every weekday morning so that he can play on one of them. Rylie is missing ballet now that it is over until her advance summer program starts in July. Steven is really getting excited to go to Junior High and be in his GT (gifted and talented) classes that he made it into. Alyssa just starting working at Jones helping with the clean up on the floors, breakroom and some offices.

So It's now after graduation and we are in the middle of Finals week. Good thing I only have 3 finals.... I don't know haw others can have so many classes.... Anyways, Math was yesterday and I think I passed with at least the minimum needed to do so.... Marriage and Family is today, and Chemistry is tomorrow... sometime. I have to take it at the Testing Center. Alyssa got her drivers Permit this past Friday. She's doing really well with driving and I'm sure will be a pro before we know it.

Just days left

Only have 3 days left until Graduation.... I am starting to feel the stress of getting everything done before then. I have a Math Test, part A, that I have to take tomorrow and part B that I have to take tomorrow night and bring back by Monday.... YIKES!! I can do this... I just need LOTS of study time. Hopefully it'll all work out ok and I will do OK on both Math tests. WELL, off to study at the Math Lab.

Five Days More

Yes only 5 days more until I can be called a 2 yr College graduate. Not a bit excited, really I'm not...HAHAHE. Today I am just trying to get all the things ready for the trip to Idaho. I have just the kids lunches made and sent them out the door to school. I now get to unload and reload the dished so that they'll be done before I get home from school. I love being able to have a bit of time to myself before school. And what do I do with my time?.... I guess I get online and Blog. Ok, I'll go. But don't forget.... 5 more days....YEAH!!!

Conference...

Today was a very cool General Conference Session. We got to sustain, President Thomas S. Monson, as the newest Prophet of the Church. We also got to sustain all the other General Authorities of the Church. I enjoyed listening to conference as I worked all day.

Tonight we are having a Girls Night In, while the guys are at the conference center listening to the Priesthood Session. Steven is now 12, so he was able to go with them for the first time. I hope that he will go to many more over the years of his life. We are going to be making homemade pizzas for dinner and the girls will be making Conference journals so that they can take notes during conference and be able to cherish what they took from it.

Just Begun

This is the first blog I've ever done. I am getting prepared to Graduate with my Associates degree from BYU-I, formerly known at Ricks College, in 9 more days. I am very excited to have accomplished this task. I wasn't going to walk in the graduation ceremony, but my older two kids talked me into it...Good for them! I am still going to school at UVU and working on my Bachelors Degree. I am going into Secondary Education/Mathematics so that I can teach. I'd like to teach 7th/8th grade Algebra...My very most favorite math class. OK... well, I better get off so that I can get to school. See ya another time.
